ALRIGHT, let's deal with the elephant in the room--THIS PAST WEEKEND WAS INSANE!!!!! 2 days of non-stop networking, sessions, and Chic-fil-a bags! lol. Hopefully everyone that came to the conference gained something to add value to their business, and left with some energy!
Friday and Saturday we had attendees from all over North America that finally had a chance to meet each other in person. Folk drove from 11.5 hours and from other countries, and even flew in from other major US cities.
When I talked to the team on the week leading up to the conference, I asked for one thing--ENERGY!! Good energy is contagious!!! This weekend was nothing but GREAT ENERGY in Baltimore. Thank you all!!!

PECULIAR CONFERENCE 2023
NOVEMBER 10-11, 2023
Thank You to Our Sponsors
The biggest of thanks to our sponsors. They totally heard our vision, our mission, our movement, and they wanted in! When I walked into Service Photo back in May and asked Burke Seim to back the conference, he sewed a seed with a comment--he said "RJ, I think this is serious --let's set up a meeting..." From there they not only blessed with sponsoring, but reached out to their biggest retailers such as Sony Alpha, Tamron, Nikon, Profoto, Canon, etc. and showed up to speak in front of a crowd of majority black photographers, and videographers.
Mannnnnnnnn, the speakers were awesome!!! There's so much I could say about each speaker but for the sake of your eyes and time --I'll leave it at THANK YOU!!!! From Jason McCoy's electrical presentation to Kanayo's ridiculous lighting techniques to Heather cutting onions in the room to Nate Templeton getting a new nickname of "Same Day Nate". The wedding panel, IPS, lighting, and videography courses were so on point!
Most notably, what made this conference different was the fact that the speakers took out the time to personally interact with attendees and share techniques to help grow each other. JOB WELL DONE!!!!!!

I don't exactly know where the models came from but they came with it!!! Shout out to some of the best models in the DMV!!!!!! Thank you so much for your patience and positive spirit...you definitely killed it!
Shoutout to Sebe Mephosa on coming in clutch with the makeup for our bride, La Shawn and one of favorite Baltimore Models, Lashira Moné.
The Holden brothers were very instrumental and literally HELD IT DOWN!!! JR Holden has to by far be one of the top videographers in the DelMarVa. He came in the room and recorded over 1.5 Terabytes side-by-side with his brother, Eric on audio. Not one time did these guys complain or operate with negative energy. Huge thank you.
Shoutout to this year's VISUAL NOTETAKER - Chaka Butler!!!! She literally walked in the room and knew NOBODY! Sis snapped!!! Check out her work from Jason McCoy and Chip Dizárd's presentation this past Saturday.

I believe I said this during Nate's introduction, but this IS NOT my group--it's our group. So happens my face is attached to it. Almost every single day since May--me, Causton, Shenna, Magruder, Mélisa, and Austin been on the phone arguing and laughing over ideas and concepts.
Thank you to especially Shenna and Causton for literally shaping and organizing the conference. Every single detail including releases, agreements, payments, class structure, emails, etc. was organized by these two. When I say they stretched their capability to the max--THEY DID!!! lol.
